Sulley predicting big things for Ghana

Since his arrival at Portsmouth from Italian Serie A side Udinese, Sulley Muntari has established himself as one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League with his range of passing and uncompromising style.

Cameroon's Andre Bikey says the Indomitable Lions can win the African Cup of Nations now that striker Samuel Eto'o is fit again.

The defender, who plays for English Premier League side Reading, says the Barcelona forward is a talisman.
"Samuel Eto'o is very important for Cameroon because no other striker creates chances like (Eto'o) does.
The 22-year-old added: "We've got a great opportunity to win as (the squad) has everything; I can't wait to play."
Bikey signed a three-year contract with the Royals in April 2007 after impressing manager Steve Coppell during last season's loan spell.
The defender has played a bit-part for his club so far this term, but Bikey maintains it is always hard to leave at this stage of the season. full story...

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has launched replica jerseys meant for supporters of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The jerseys, which are designed in red, yellow and white colours, have the logo of the Association embossed on them.

They also have names of players embossed at the back.

Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi President of the GFA said the initiative was part of their plans to whip up support for the national team as they make another attempt at annexing the continental trophy

Beach Soccer focuses on some of the most spectacular aspects of modern football: skill, agility and, above all, goals. All the action happens within a beach lifestyle atmosphere and the irregular nature of the soft-sand playing surface lends itself to an entertaining style of play, with the ball spending most of the time in the air and the players forced to improvise with moments of spectacular individual flair.

A compact pitch measuring 28x37 metres gives players licence to shoot from virtually anywhere and, with an average of sixty attempts at goal in a single game (one every thirty seconds!), goalkeepers are tested to the absolute limit. However, even they can’t prevent an average scoring rate of one goal every 3-4 minutes - eleven goals in total per game!

Teamwork is also key, with each side consisting of five players (four plus the goalkeeper) and unlimited substitutions to get them through the three 12-minute periods. Throw-ins and kick-ins mean the pace and flow of the game is unrelenting and in Beach Soccer there is always a winner, with the contest going down to three minutes of overtime followed by penalty kicks if the score is tied.

The unique party atmosphere enjoyed by a Beach Soccer crowd is maintained during the three-minute breaks between periods, when music, live acts and dancers keep the entertainment flowing.

Werder Bremen's Brazilian maestro Diego has been winning plaudits all season for the form which has propelled his Bundesliga club into the title fight. Now, it seems, it's not only adoring crowds who rate him highly Critics and fans alike marveled at the diminutive playmaker's all-round performance and eye for goal before the winter break as Bremen charged up the league to devour Bayern Munich's early season lead to leave the league finely poised in the second half run-in.
